Precious Memories

(The conclusion from last month)  When I need to get up at a certain time, my internal clock must kick in.  Just ten minutes before the alarm was to go off I woke up ready to go.  A quick snack for breakfast, hot coffee and we all headed out to our pre-assigned locations.  Brother Randy and I headed up toward the base of the alfalfa field just out of the creek bed while the others took up their positions at the stock tank, hay bales, pole barn and the Greasy Buttes.  Brother Fred went a good ways up Steep Creek and worked his way back toward camp.  After seeing nothing and waiting for what seemed like forever, a couple shots came from down the creek as Continue reading

The Good Life

For those of you who keep up with my columns, you know that I enjoy spending time with my family.  Not just my kids and grandkids, but also my brothers and sisters.  Knowing that I’m on the back side of life, I take advantage of every opportunity to attend family gatherings.  My dad often said that hospitals and funeral homes are no place to have a family reunion and he was so correct.  So a couple years back when my younger brother suggested that all the brothers go on a hunt out west, you can bet that I jumped all over it.

Now there are three things that I would like to kill outside the state of Missouri.  I’d like a nice antelope, which I got several years back.  A bear, which is still on my list and a big mule deer, which was what my brother had suggested.  Now keep in mind Continue reading

A:  Last month you raised the question of my race baiting and questioned whether it was beneath the dignity of the presidency to divide the country along racial lines.
